The survey seeks to gather feedback on several issues, including growth, open space and environment, sense of place, modern infrastructure, transportation, the economy, healthy lifestyles, and housing options. 2017 is a Municipal election year. The primary election will take place on May 16. Polls will be open from 7:00am to 8:00 pm. Residents in precinct 054 (Caln 4) who previously voted at Wedgwood Community Center have a new polling place at Beaver Run Knoll (631 Lancaster Court).
For information about candidates and to check your voter registration, visit Chester County Voter Services. The Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy through the end of 2017. Applicants should be available to attend bi-monthly Board of Commissioners Meetings on the 2nd and last Thursday of each month at 7:30PM. NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of Caln Township will conduct a public hearing on May 25, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., prevailing time at the Caln Township Municipal Building, 253 Municipal Drive, Thorndale, Pennsylvania to consider and possibly adopt at the regular monthly business meeting held immediately after the public hearing the Caln Township Comprehensive Plan of 2017. A copy of the proposed Comprehensive Plan is available for public inspection and may be examined without charge or obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof at the Township administrative offices, 253 Municipal Drive, Thorndale, Pennsylvania Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Plan is also available on the Township’s website here.
If any person who wishes to attend the hearing has a disability and/or requires an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodation to observe or participate in the hearing, he or she should contact the Township Secretary at least 24 hours in advance of the hearing at (610) 384-0600 to discuss how those needs may be accommodated. Kristen Denne, Manager Caln Township The Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement will be conducting a license canvass in Chester County on May 17th. Multiple wardens will be going door to door educating dog owners as well as checking the status of their dog licenses and rabies vaccinations. All dogs three months or older must be licensed by Jan. 1 of each year. Violators can be cited with a maximum fine of $300 per violation, plus court costs. An annual license is $8.50 and a lifetime license is $51.50. If the animal is spayed or neutered, the annual fee is $6.50 and lifetime is $31.50. Discounts are available to older adults and people with disabilities. The small license fee helps protect the millions of dogs in the state by funding the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement. Yard waste collection will begin on Friday, March 31 for Monday and Tuesday customers and April 7 for Wednesday and Thursday customers. Pickups take place every other week through December 15.
The Caln Township Planning Commission is seeking public feedback on their proposed 2017 Comprehensive Plan. The plan, which was drafted with help from a Comprehensive Plan Committee, "provides an overall set of policies and recommendations for the future development, redevelopment and conservation of Caln Township over the next 15 years." The plan includes sections on the following: Land Use and Housing; Historic Preservation; Parks, Recreation and Community Services; Transportation; Energy Conservation; and Putting This Plan into Action. The last time a new Comprehensive Plan was adopted was 2003. A Public Information Session will be held on March 21 at 6:45 pm at the Caln Township building.
