UPDATE: Due to a stormy forecast on Saturday, we've decided to reschedule for Sunday afternoon (1-3PM). If you're unable to attend on Sunday, but would still like to help clean up, please reach out to Abbey at [email protected] or 610-384-0600 x148 and we'll be sure to get you supplies. (Since the extended forecast for next week looks crummy as well, we opted for Sunday, which looks quite nice, rather than take our chances with next Saturday, our original rain date.) Thank you! Join Caln Township Parks and Recreation for our annual Caln Community Clean Up Day (Sponsored by Midway Grill)! Individuals and groups are encouraged to attend. Supplies and lunch certificates to Midway Grill will be provided so please RSVP so we can ensure enough for all. Starting location: Caln Municipal Building (253 Municipal Drive, Thorndale) RSVP at at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4eadae2ea4facf8-caln1
Contact Abbey at [email protected] or 610-384-0600 x148 with any questions. ![]() Caln Township is thrilled, once again, to have the opportunity to improve our parks and the environment by planting a riparian buffer along Valley Run. Riparian buffers are vegetated strips along streambanks which helps protect the stream from pollution and erosion. They also provide important habitat for wildlife and shade which help keep stream water cool for fish. A variety of native tree and shrub species will be provided through the Chester County Conservation District and the Keystone Ten Million Trees initiative. Volunteers needed! Bring work gloves, shovels, and a willingness to get a little muddy! Date: Saturday, April 2, 2022 (rain date - April 3) Time: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Location: Caln Municipal Park - 253 Municipal Drive, Thorndale Spaces are limited so registration is required. By now, you may be aware of the tragic loss of life yesterday that occurred in Philadelphia due to a fire. Interestingly, the affected property was inspected only last year and was reported to have had working smoke detectors at that time. Tragically, there were no working smoke detectors yesterday at the time of the fire. Caln Township has a Rental Housing Program. Each property that is a known rental in Caln Township is licensed and inspected every three years, and each time a tenant changes, by the Department of Building and Life Safety. Living conditions of the rental unit are noted as part of the rental inspection. Any unsafe condition or safety concern that is found during the initial inspection requires a follow-up inspection to ensure the concerns have been addressed and the occupants have a safe living environment. The number of occupants living in a rental is verified during the inspection to make sure that there is no over-crowding conditions. Caln Township enforces the International Property Maintenance Code, and the occupancy limitations contained within are enforced, including assuring each sleeping area is inspected to ensure that there is a functional door in place, along with a secondary means of emergency escape from the room. The priority of the Department of Building and Life Safety is to ensure the safety of every individual that resides in a rental property in Caln Township. This department strives to prevent a tragedy like the one that occurred yesterday in Philadelphia from ever taking place in our Township. Please take a moment to remember the individuals, including several children, who lost their lives yesterday. ![]() Please remove all lights, tree stands and decorations from your tree and place it out at your trash and recycling point by 5:00 AM on the following days.
